California Secrets

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I was going through a few of the articles related to the 5.5ish (news sources seem to conflict) earthquake that was felt early yesterday in California when I came accross a particularly noteworthy article on the subject. Toward the end there is a comment about the weather, and how now the interviewed person knows what to expect. All I could think of when I read it was, were earth quakes some major secret? Were they only known to people born and raised along the San Andreas Fault ? I mean I thought it was pretty clear that you should expect earth quakes pretty much anywhere in california, as depicted in this small map to the left.

On a more serious note though, I have a good amount of family in Los Angeles area and I’m glad they are all OK.

My priest in World Of Warcraft made it to 375 tailoring last night. I should probably spend the time waiting for my cooldown getting enchanting to the same place. I’ve been wanting to run an instance but haven’t had the opportunity to do so the last few nights, maybe tonight before my workout.

The-Palooza

Brittnee Palooza was fantastic, there was music, drinking, merryment, old people, new people. Nicole came (it’s good to see her after so long) and she brought a couple of her friends, Stephanie and Kelly. We also met Matt B’s sister Abby, and I learned that that Daniel and KimSean are now an item.

Matt and my performance of Lisa Loeb’s – Sandalwood was slightly botched, but it still made me happy and for anyone who didn’t catch it when I said it there, I had dedicated to Brenda.

I played badminton for about an hour or two and it was fun but I was totally feeling it in my ankles that night and the next day.

Brenda and I had a small trip to Powells the next day, it was pretty fun and we both escaped with a few good books. She brought home what we lovingly refer to as the “Goliath” to study for her EIT certification. We got to see a few of the parts of downtown I’m not familiar with . I forget how Posh certain parts of Portland can be. There are all sorts of major structures and art peices that are so “hip”.

Long Term

I’m still looking for a differente range of work over here, it looks like there’s some design position opening up and I’d like to take it, but I’m really worried that I’m not good enough for the position. I’ll let them be the judge of that I suppose and just go for it.

Today is Brittneepalooza, and we have all sorts of preperations in place for the event, it’ll be fantastic. Matt and I have been practicing Lisa Loeb’s – Sandalwood to perform at the event. We have the basics of the song set, with some more practice it’ll be perfect.

El Ocho

I’ve been increasing my intake of protien shakes and trying to eat more often to see if that would help, and it totally has. I’ve already seen like an inch and a half of gains all around and about 5 lbs. I got the iPhone 2.0 firmware and it is amazing, I wish alot of these features had been there to begin with, like now my contacts sync with google. Downside is all my contacts were cleared when I botched my first attempt to upgrade. I had all my important images backed up though so I don’t feel it was that bad and this will give me a chance to clean up my google contacts.

It’s now Day 8 of 12 at work and the beginning of a week where I’m on call. Can’t complain really, but I feel like I’m wading through muddy banks trying to get through to the weekend.

Post Fish

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

My New Tank I purchased a new fish tank for my beta at work last week and just hadn’t gotten around to posting a picture of it for everyone. I’m pretty content with the the size, my beta is happy with, and it makes me look very sophisticated.

We had a fun get together on the fourth at Brenda’s work, it was a pretty good location for the fireworks and it would have been absolutely perfect if there was any wind to clear the smoke. I hear that was a common problem though despite the location you chose to view at. Brenda made these fantastic Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes that I really enjoyed.

Today is going to be day 3 of a 12 day stretch without a day off at work, it’ll be a little rough and it’s a little stressfull to anticipate from this end, but I know towards the end I’ll be glad I’m doing it.

I’ve been playing a little bit of WoW again, though I’m not sure if I’ve played it enough to make it worth the cost. I guess I’ll make that decision on the end of my 10 day trial that Gary got me.
