Literal Mischief

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Recently I was introduced to the site goodreads.com , this really is a fun community and a good guide post to new things to read. I’d really recommend it to anyone who likes to read even just casually.

I helped Kelly move this last Sunday from her current apartment to her sister Megan’s house. It seemed to me to be a pretty good arrangement. She gets a spacious attic room that seems like it would be really fun.

Brenda, Brittnee, and Aaron were in on the ordeal as well, and when it was over Kelly took a nap and the rest of us hit of the County Cork in downtown portland.

I love that the barkeep / server already recognises me and Brenda when we visit. The place is the kind of Posh / hoakie that really attracts me. They’ve got some great fish and chips and a great beer selection.

Grave Matters

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I’ve been reading Lovecraft’s work, though slowly, and find myself enjoying them emmensely. The guy needs to find a setting besides a graveyard though. Hopefully soon he’ll discover that you can run into the super-natural away from slabs stating R.I.P.

Work has been great. I’m trying hard and I think my boss has noticed which is good. I have some projects that i’m pretty excited about getting completed.

I’m looking for a game to play right now so that I don’t just sit in front of my computer for hours on end, but haven’t had much success. I really want something with spells and pretty animations, but nothing i’ve found really fits along those lines.

Working for Love

Monday, September 15th, 2008

I’m enjoying my new job to a degree I didn’t think was possible. I’m able to get to my work, start doing something that I would do on my own time anyways for a few hours a day and by the time I’m finished I feel like I’ve accomplished, learned, and created. I feel so fortunate that I’m working as a Web Designer and I’m so happy that the peices of my mind that are still inside my head may soon escape, pushed outward by the sheer amount of joy that is in there.

Pretty much every morning on my way to work, I get this view. Being a permanent pedestrian it doesn’t vary much, and that’s really ok. I’m looking forward to watching the seasons change on this street, but I really need to get a blazer and a sweater before then so I don’t get cold.

Spore-Addict

Monday, September 8th, 2008

So, I picked up Spore today and I’ve been trying to get it to run, but this laptop isn’t quite capable (recommended setting is 4.0 , and this laptop scores a 3.2, with the lowest score being the video card). With any luck I’ll be able to at least try the game before the evening is over.

My first day as a designer begins tommorow. I’m really pretty excited and I just hope I’m up to the task. It’s kind of scary moving into a new department and working with new people. It’s like day one at work all over again.

I’m downloading the stand alone sp1 pack for vista because I can’t seem to get it to download via windows update, with luck that’ll enable me to play Spore!
